You Don't Need A Senior Title To Have An Educated Take

The old thinking is that more senior executives own the right to say the important things at key moments in a company's journey. The more senior you are, the more authority you have, the more information you hold.
Right?
It's backwards.
A senior person might get invited into more rooms. But that doesn't guarantee people listen once they're in it. What actually separates them from others that have the floor when they speak isn't the org chart: it's trust and credibility.
So where does that trust actually come from, if not from a title? It rarely comes from arriving with a fully-formed original opinion and a content calendar already figured out.
If you're looking to expand your business network and evolve into a thought leader, just remember there are ways to ease your way into it without figuring out personalized content schedules, what to say, and when to say it.
One of the lowest-risk ways to begin is to build trust around your news judgment before you showcase your original thoughts. Follow sharp thinkers in your industry. When they post an idea worth reading, share it with a few lines on why it matters, what it means, and maybe where you'd push back.
What you choose to elevate, and how you frame it, tells people almost as much about how you think as an original post would.
A confident reaction to someone else's idea is an easy way in for someone coming across your name for the first time. It's also low-lift for you, which makes this approach a win-win.
Do this consistently for a month or two and you'll notice something shifts. The reactions you're posting will start running longer, until one day a reaction has turned into a full thought of its own. That's the signal your brief takes have outgrown the articles you have been sharing. It means you're ready to move on to the next phase: producing your own original ideas.
